Hello Warpony Families! I have some very important information to share with you concerning bus transportation. I want to make you aware that we are experiencing an extreme bus driver shortage. Black Mountain Primary currently only has 1 bus driver. If you or anyone you know is interested in driving a bus, please contact the school office. 828-669-2645
We have collaborated with Owen Middle School and Owen High School to problem solve and try to find the best possible, and hopefully temporary, solution to our bus driver shortage. In order to provide morning and afternoon transportation to as many students as possible, we will incorporate 15 community stops with our one Black Mountain Primary bus and we will have 2 shared buses that will transport Kindergarten through 12th grade students. The 2 buses that we will share with the middle school and high school will cover Ridgecrest and Highway 9 areas. These buses will continue to stop at individual student homes.
Our one Black Mountain Primary bus will run 3 different loads of children and will stop at a total of 15 prearranged community stops in the morning and afternoon. At this time, we will be unable to stop at each student’s individual home. In addition, the Black Mountain Elementary School’s principal has graciously agreed to drop off our students who attend KidQuest at the Methodist Church and Art in the Afternoon at the Carver Center. If your child is a bus rider or you wish for them to be, it is very important that you let us know. There are a couple ways you can do this. You can call the school office or you can fill out an online form. The form is linked below. You will also receive a link to this form in a text message. In order for us to plan the bus routes and provide you times, you must fill out this online form or call the office. Thank you for your patience while we implement these new bus procedures.
