Leicester Elementary’s classrooms were alive with energy as families joined their children for a time of learning and laughter. Parents, grandparents, and siblings settled in beside their students, their eyes scanning colorful posters, number lines, and student work decorating the walls. Families participated in a variety of math games for Family Day, giving everyone a glimpse into the skills their children had been mastering.
Teachers gave a quick introduction, explaining the rules of the games before stepping aside. Students eagerly took the lead, flipping number cards and solving equations with their loved ones.
Parents leaned in, nodding as their children explained their reasoning. Some were surprised to see new problem-solving methods, while others enjoyed testing their own skills alongside their children. Younger siblings sat on laps, watching in excitement.
As the Family Day came to an end, loved ones shared smiles and hugs, proud of their time together. Students were ready to finish their day with their confidence boosted by the experience. Though the games were packed away, the joy of learning together would last long after the day was over.
