Members of the Bee City USA Asheville Chapter joined Black Mountain Primary (BMP) for a special Butterfly Trail dedication, unveiling the American Lady Butterfly station near the school’s butterfly garden. The Asheville Butterfly Trail is an outdoor art project that teaches people about butterflies through interactive displays at several locations throughout Buncombe County. BMP is the very first school to be featured on the Butterfly Trail. Visitors are invited to stop by and snap a photo with the beautiful wings, and learn more about the species.

“I love the symbolism of having butterfly wings at our school,” said Principal Kelly Owen. “Every day, we have the privilege of watching children grow, change, discover new things, and begin to spread their own wings.”

This special addition to campus celebrates the beauty of nature while inspiring students to spread their wings and soar to endless possibilities. BMP values its ongoing community partnerships and is proud to bring community organizations, schools and students together to build connections and learn from one another.
