Beth Eckstein:" I have been a Speech/Language Therapist for 31 years, and here in Buncombe County Schools for 15 years. I am based at Black Mountain Primary. I provide speech/language therapy and evaluations  to students at  Black Mountain Primary, Elementary, and Headstart.  I am also the BCS Team Leader for Assistive Technology system wide.  My goal is to help students communicate by whatever means they can: verbally, sign, pictures, and/or voice output devices!  We can learn speech and language via anything....but at school, our speech groups learn through music, gardening, cooking, and games. We have so much fun while learning to communicate!  I also enjoy hiking, camping, singing in a choir, music, and painting. "

Cortney Pauly: " I have always loved languages and helping people. I studied Spanish in high school and college, spent a semester of college in Israel, did an internship in Mexico, traveled to several countries with my church, and in my 20s I worked with international students from Asia. From 2004-2009, I did linguistic research on tribal languages in Thailand. What an amazing life experience! When I came home, I wanted to keep using my passion for linguistics to help people in our community. I decided to pursue a Master's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders at Western Carolina University. When I graduated in 2013, I started working at Buncombe County Schools in the Owen District. My goal is to help my students improve their speech sounds, stuttering, grammar and vocabulary, and social skills so that they become clear and confident communicators!"
