Meet the Teacher
Welcome to my Classroom
Rebecca L. Brunner

Hello!  My name is Rebecca Brunner and I am proud to be teaching first grade at Black Mountain Primary.  This is my 19th year teaching and my 12th year at Black Mountain Primary.   I am very excited to be a part of the first A+ School in Buncombe County!  Integrating the arts into the curriculum has provides our children with an enriched balance of learning.

Before moving to North Carolina, I taught several years in Detroit, Michigan. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and Master's Degree in Curriculum and  Teaching from Michigan State University.  I have also received my National Board Certification.

I am glad to be in a beautiful place surrounded by mountains with my husband and (sons) Sebastian, and Oliver.  I believe that family is very important, so I know how vital it is for us to keep communication open between home and school.  I  feel that communication is key in discovering ways for students to succeed.

I am a parent of two boys that are both unique learners.  I understand and can relate to students that need to be challenged and with students that struggle.  I understand that all students can learn through differentiated learning and with proper support.  I promise to work with your child and family to create a positive learning environment.  I want to see each individual achieve success and to do their best in a safe environment.  I strongly encourage families to visit our classroom and take an active role in their child's education.  Volunteers are important and greatly appreciated.  I am excited about the 2017-2018 school year!
